As well as sitting still and listening to the world exist around me, I sometimes like to walk about, especially when a route might take me through differing soundscapes, like woodlands, towns, parks, and busy traffic. I like the contrast between the tranquillity of a quiet calming space and the urgency and chaos of the modern world. This collection of recordings mixes all these together, and feature walks through towns, cities, parks, supermarkets, woodlands and beaches in England, Scotland, and Germany. Take a seat, relax, and enjoy the journey.

Recorded between March 2022 and January 2023, using the Sony PCM D100 with the Audio Technica AT8022 stereo microphone from time to time. Mixed and mastered by Paul Mallatratt, January 2023. These tracks were recorded live in the great outdoors, and every care has been taken to present them in as natural way as possible. Audio processing has been used to filter out over-loud wind noise directly into the microphones when the furry windjammers weren’t enough, and to balance the volume levels between the tracks. A small amount of editing has been employed to remove alarming thuds and clips which occurred during the walks when my hands started to cramp up when holding the recorder. The field recording purists would no doubt be incensed with this approach, but my intention is a relaxing listening experience rather than the purest recording with unintentional errors included. I hope you don’t mind.
